The Lazy Gal’s Guide to Entertaining:
- Always keep pantry staples on hand: fancy crackers, cheese, nuts, olives, and dried fruit.
- Have a plan in place for stashing coats, shoes and hostess gifts. On that note, consider telling your guests in advance if you’re a shoes-off in the house family. Hint: Press play to hear the most mortifying sock/shoe debacle!)
- Bust out the fancy hand soaps and towels. Then hide them away when you don’t have guests.
- Clear the kitchen counter, empty the trash and dishwasher before the guests come over.
- Order the food. Take all of that prep off of your plate, so to speak, and focus on pretty presentation. Turn on the tunes, and light a candle. Your guests may not remember what you served but they will always remember how you made them feel.
- Create a kid-space! Crayons, goldfish, and juice boxes are always a win, and a stool in the bathroom is a very nice touch.
- Prep the powder room – wipe everything down quickly, stock the TP and bust out the Poo-Pouri…. just in case.
